Now you might say, so what. Populations are slaughtered in many places. Who cares about palestinians. Fine you can do that. The specific problem in the US is that it is empowered by US financing and weapons. What I find amazing is the acceptance of the tradition of US senatorial and presidential candidates going to Israel to campaign. That this is seen as routine is amazing to me.
