AND THE SALES JUST KEEP ON COMING

FONAR Sells 10 Stand-Up MRI's During April and May Bringing the Total Stand-Up MRI Sales to 86
Thursday June 3, 11:35 am ET

MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 3, 2004--FONAR Corporation (NASDAQ-FONR), The MRI Specialist(TM), announced today that it sold 10 Stand-Up(TM) MRI scanners during the months of April and May, 2004, compared to 4 sales for the corresponding months in 2003. The total number of Stand-Up MRI sales now stands at 86.
Raymond Damadian, president and founder of FONAR said, "We are delighted, but not surprised, that our selling rate has more than doubled. Stand-Up(TM) MRI users here and abroad are getting very positive responses from their patients and referring doctors. One spine surgeon told me that he will not go into surgery without first seeing MRI images of his patients done on a FONAR Stand-Up(TM) MRI. Another customer, after operating his first Stand-Up MRI for just a few months, ordered four more and is now considering buying more. As our sales and installations continue to grow, I expect that awareness and acceptance of the unique diagnostic advantages of the product, the reputation of the Stand-Up(TM) MRI as the most patient-friendly MRI anywhere, the corporate image of FONAR, and the rate of sales to grow right along with it."

David Terry, Senior Vice President of FONAR said, "The Company has worked hard to become successful. We have done an outstanding job in the design and engineering of the Stand-Up(TM) MRI. Our manufacturing division has never been stronger, and our marketing and sales departments are targeting the right audiences and bringing in sales. I believe the sound corporate infrastructure that we have developed can only lead to value for FONAR and its shareholders."

Founded in 1978, FONAR is the first company in the MRI industry. FONAR installed the world's first commercial MRI scanner, the QED 80 Alpha, in 1980. In the first decade of the MRI industry, FONAR sold approximately 150 of its BETA 'Open' MRI scanners. Key FONAR achievements include: the world's first MRI scanner (1977), the world's first 'Open' MRI (1982), the first mobile MRI (1985), and the first High-Field Open MRI (1995). FONAR installed the first Stand-Up(TM) MRI in 2001.

The Stand-Up(TM) MRI has the ability to perform Position(TM) Imaging (pMRI(TM)), where patients can be scanned sitting, standing, bending or lying down. Because of its unique top-open and front-open magnet design, the Stand-Up(TM) MRI is remarkably spacious and non-claustrophobic.

MRI Specialist, Stand-Up, Upright, Position, pMRI and The Proof is in the Picture are trademarks of FONAR.
