CIA director George Tenet resigns unexpectedly

The CIA chief has been criticized for intelligence failures related to the Sept. 11 attacks and claims about Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. According to Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward, Tenet told Bush just two weeks before the president decided to invade Iraq that he considered it a "a slam dunk" that the Iraqi leader possessed weapons of mass destruction.
