The recession ended in 2001. Those millions lost their jobs because there was no demand for their products or services or their paychecks exceeded the value of their products or services. Jobs aren't a welfare program. You have to actually produce something and you get paid for the value of what you produce. No more. No less. The free market decides what the fair value is. Fuel costs are high because its summer and people drive more. Inflation overall is tame. Stocks pick up when corporate revenue grows.
