And those costs are pretty high. Estimates are in the range of $16,000 a year for each computer, mainly in support staff. The problem that I have with this argument is that the very same tech people who would be advising decision makers on whether to go NC, would be the ones who would lose their jobs. Now, what do you think they are going to be saying about NC? One answer: you could hire the expensive boys from Coopers to come in and do a study. Still, the computer folks in my office have it pretty easy, and I can imagine that they will fight like hell not to lose their jobs.
