Lundin move off Norway
Upstream, June 4
By Knut Evensen

Swiss-based Lundin Petroleum has been given a preliminary go-ahead from the Norwegian authorities for operations on the Norwegian shelf.

In a letter to the oil company, the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum &Energy said that Lundin has been pre-qualified as an operator in the country's offshore waters.

Lundin is to set up a new organisation and implement Norwegian health, safety and environment standards.

Last year Lundin bought most of DNO's Norwegian portfolio, including stakes in the Alvheim development west of Heimdal. This transaction however, is still pending necessary sanctions from the Norwegian authorities.
