May's piece is so thin. He's slipping.

<<Was the war justified? There can be no doubt about it.>>

He backs that up with several paragraphs describing how horrible Saddam was. Yes, he was horrible. And this justifies a war, how? May doesn't seem to feel the need to connect those dots.

<<Was this war necessary? It is tempting to believe that – had we only left Saddam alone -- he would have confined his atrocities to Iraqis and their neighbors, that he would have spared Americans. Overwhelming evidence contradicts that view. >>

He backs that up with several paragraphs about how Saddam wanted to bring his horrors to our shores. Yep, he proves intent. Nary a word about Saddam's capability to implement his intent. All hat, no cattle. May doesn't seem to feel a need to describe for us the cattle.

<<Is this war winnable?>>

He says "it's unlikely to be a cakewalk." IOW, the probability isn't real high. He hopes it's winnable. He doesn't want us to give up. To his credit, he doesn't even pretend that he answered the winnability question in the affirmative like he pretended to answer the first two.

Maybe he thinks he can bluff us. Or maybe he's writing for the true believers who will say "amen" without looking to closely at the fact that he doesn't have the arguments to back up his points. He's a smart man. It makes me sad to see this last gasp of bravado.
