McCain has been an outspoken critic of how Bush has conducted the war in Iraq. Same as Marine 4 Star General Zinni.

McCain is also still angry at the Bush campaign which painted McCain as possibly having suffered mental instability due to his POW experience.

I don't know how it is that your party can stand by that kind of dirty brush tactic, even when it's used on a party member.

McCain is a party man. He understands that in this country party politics is important to achieve anything. But that said, McCain has signaled in many ways how he thinks the party is off track, and needs to be coaxed back to the center.
