Bush is SO BEHIND THE CURVE...just like his father....it's the economy STUPID....and GAS PRICES ARE THE PROBLEM.....SIX MONTHS LATE WITH THIS!

If the election turns on the economy, Bush wins. One and half million jobs created since the beginning of the year and strong GDP growth. As for the refiners, I read an article last week that said that they are already operating at 96% of their domestic capacity. Nobody is building refining facilities in the U.S. They are almost impossible to permit.

Anyway, adjusted for inflation, gas prices are still low.

Howell Raines, the former editor of The New York Times is concerned about the clarity of Kerry's message. Raines had a piece published in The Guardian earlier this week.

A lot of Democrats are nostalgic these days for the exuberance that Bill Clinton exhibited on the campaign trail and for the clarity of his message: "It's the economy, stupid." With John Kerry, the message so far seems to be: It's the war, sort of, and it's the economy, maybe.
