Just looked up washers in the Aug '03 issue.

For top loaders, best was Roper at 7% repair/boo-boo to KitchenAid at 14%. Maytag was about avg. at 10% (4th best of 8).

For front loaders, Kenmore was 8%, Frigidaire was 12%, and Maytag a dismal 21%, so by far the worst of the three. Didn't see LG mentioned (too small a sample I suppose) but I see them advertised a lot now.

For electric dryers, Maytag was 2nd best.

Like I said, it varies, but they do seem to be around the middle now.
