true, final cut express would probably be good enough for most people's needs, heck even the free imovie and idvd that comes with the new mac would be good enough for most people's needs....

and if you just have a few videos on old tape that need digitizing, i think the way to go is with those service bureaus that will digitize it for you then send you back a DVD, then you can edit it up from that...

but if you have a lot of projects and you want to do it yourself, i don't know which piece of equipment is good for that... nobody uses the old none digital tape anymore, so i have only used the service bureaus for the few things i had on old tape......
