re: A still better way would be to tax inefficient cars rather then outright making them illegal. Better yet would be to raise the gasoline tax. I wouldn't be for even the last but as you go down the list you get less government intervention and more efficiency in achieving the goal.

There is a huge need for change; there are incremental solutions that may not be ideal, but that could increase the velocity towards an economic solution.

The free market works best. But innovation can't always keep up with world events. And maybe it's just me, but the JIT movement seems to have crippled the markets ability, or desire, to project the future.
