Bush met the Pope to try and win over gullible Catholics in the US. It was a cynical visit. He knows the Pope doesn't like him and vice versa but he went through the photo op with a smarmy stiff smile on his face. Then he gave a dishonest speech about how there is such unity" in Iraq, after he's made a total mess of the place.

This is a president with no conscience or personal connection with reality it seems. He even exploits the Pope. Everything is just a campaign stop to him. Right or wrong doesn't even matter.
