<<OPEN ADDRESS FROM U.S. SOLDIER TO George W. BUSH & THE AMERICAN PEOPLE>>>

It is America that has failed its soldiers, not the Administration.

We have propered mightily, built and bought the best. The best cars, clothes, houses, Universities, and resorts.

And it is still not enough, we want a million for retirement, we want Social Security, $100000 for the childrens education, and a company retirement fund and unemployment benefits fo 2 years.

We were not awake. We did not know the enemy was building its organization to destroy us . We still do not understand why people hate us.

SO WE FAILED TO PAY OUR DUES, FAILED TO INSURE THAT WHICH WE HAD BUILT BY BUILDING OUR ARMED FORCES.

Instead we let the armed forces decay, made them fight for every dollar. And we planned for the big war, a different war, without realizing or being able to predict the type of fighting modern wars would entail.

Yet the men on the ground, the soldiers in the field, have done the best with the equipment they had. And in the future they will get the best we can provide.

Perfection is goal, and is never realized. We do not have enough teachers, we do not have enough fresh water or power, we do not have enough countries willing to fight terrorism ...

And if your soldier brought all 38 men home alive, he has performed a miracle.
