At the risk of playing Devil's advocate, I don't think the clip could be considered a smoking gun. What both firefighters described is exactly what everyone has seen in videos. The one guy said something like "floor by floor was popping out". The other guy said something like "it went bang, bang, bang all the way down like a controlled demolition". In the context it was used, "bang, bang, bang all the way down", translates more to "bang, it hit the floor" or "bang, he ran into the car", rather than "the firecracker went bang". As far as the comment it looked like a controlled demolition, there are only two groups in the world that will refuse to admit that it did indeed looked like a controlled demolition; FEMA and NIST.
I've been looking at some of the WTC7 clips this afternoon. It's strange how it seems like every time I look at some of these things, something I hadn't noticed before seems to stand out. The penthouse on top falls before the rest of the building. In other words, the entire core support of the building had disintegrated before the collapse began. Another thing I noticed is all the shots of the collapse appear to have been caught by stationary cameras trained on the building. Also of interest is there is a roaring noise in the background which appears to have started before the beginning of the collapse, as if perhaps noise of the demolition alerted the camera crews to the money shot before the collapse began. Sort of like in the French fireman video the camera man notices the noise of a jet flying way too low and points the camera toward the noise source. It's a little hard to tell since there's always a certain amount of editing for news shows.
The clip starts with firemen walking around, then cuts to the collapse, then cuts to other firemen watching the collapse. The second shot of firemen has the wobbling effect of a hand held camera, and the entire soundtrack seems to be coming from that camera. The first shot is of other firemen before it cuts to the collapse. The frames are steady throughout the collapse, which would suggest a tripod mounted camera. If that camera were filming the first set of firemen, then swung to catch the collapse, and edited to cut out the swing, that might be interesting data. I suppose it would depend on if there were two cameras or three. In any case, it might be interesting if a longer version were available and what the background noise sounded like. I think it's worth noting how few clips available actually include real time noise of any of the implosions. As close as I can tell, all the twin tower footage is of the silent movie variety.
The reason the collapse of the buildings looked like controlled demolitions is because they were controlled demolitions. It's really as simple as the reason Kennedy's head moved the wrong way for a shot fired from Oswald's position is because the bullet came from a different position than Oswald's. |
