I don't think they're particularily "bad people". I just think they have massive investments to protect and massive plans to increase their wealth, and often the measures they chose to do so are rather amoral. I mean, to set Saddam Huessein up to invade Kuwaitt, and then eject him from that country just to gain a firmer grip on the oil supplies is a pretty amoral thing to do. In their eyes it's justified (perhaps even morally) by the need to ensure an adquate supply of oil for the American economy and to protect their assets in the all-important Middle Eestern oil fields. So be it, morality is often in the eyes of the beholder. The only thing that really counts in this world is wealth and power.

I don't think the Bilderbergers get together to talk about the latest techniques of winning at golf or where's the best place to vacation these days. I think it's a lot more serious than that. They're probably discussing the thawing of relations between the Koreas, the prospects of China attacking Taiwan, how best to approach the new Quadafi in Lybia, the state of affairs in Iraq and how best to settle it and secure the oil, world trade, Al Queda, perhaps more mundane issue like social benefits in various countries and how to keep them in check. I imagine there are different conferences going on at the meeting as well. Some for the real high rollers, and some just to entertain some of the ones there as a social function.
