a sad day indeed,

yet his tribulation is over...i'm grateful he has shed the shackles of the burden of a body's and mind's ultimate "betrayal"

alz.org

he was an amazing president...

when he came into office, i remember it well....double digit inflation and interest rates, unemployment at 10%, gas lines, 444 days of the hostage crisis....carter's "malaise"

it was horrible, i remember just beginning in business and going from lender to lender looking for a business loan...finally we found a bank....and felt like we won the lottery at getting a loan at 'only' 11%

i voted for carter, and was so completely thrilled to be able to vote him out....and had no idea the greatness of the man who was to take his place

within a matter of a couple of years the economy was turning around, rates were plummeting, 25 million new jobs forming as tax rates were reduced from the highs of 70% to 28%...

it was "morning in america"

and to think that his presidency was only an inch away from an assassin's bullet

"Ronald Reagan had a higher claim than any other leader to have won the Cold War for liberty and he did it without a shot being fired,"

former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher Saturday
