RtS, agreed - what institutions do is key. It is not at all clear to me that they are interested in AMAT now, in spite of the relatively low valuation and good forward prospects of the company. I read Cary's opinion with respect and interest, but think he has too much implied confidence that institutions will step in again. The right time to buy based on fundamentals was months ago - yet institutions bailed instead. They will have to believe in a very long cycle of increasing bookings to buy now. That requires a drastic change in their thinking and the tacit admission they made a mistake.
