Reagan Grew Wise & Switched to Republican Party Pres Reagan will forever take his place in World History as the American Pres who built up the U.S. military to the point where the USSR could no longer compete. As a result, the Russian empire imploded and the Cold war was over. Of course, as we all know the Democrats criticized Reagan's strategy as strongly as they currently condemn Pres Bush. Do they ever get it right? If Harry Truman & John Kennedy were alive today, they would also switch to the Repub Party in the same way Reagan did. In fact, the Dem Party left Reagan and many other former party members, rather than them leaving it.
