Iraqi Debt Reduction

MOSCOW (Bloomberg) -- Russia may cut the debt it is owed by Iraq "considerably," Deputy Foreign Minister Yury Fedotov said, Interfax reported Friday.

"We are ready to considerably reduce Iraq's debt, like other countries, but it should be done in accordance with the rules and procedures of the Paris Club."

The Paris Club is an informal group of 19 creditor countries with the mission of "founding sustainable and viable debt-restructuring solutions" for its debtors.

Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said in February that Iraq's debt to Russia totals about $8 billion.
