F you again, bubba. First of all I'm no liberal. Second, I was no Wellstone fan. Third, I can see Bushies already desperately trying to spin this Reagan death into a big campaign vendetta/hoopla, trying to morph their weasely failure GW into Reagan.

Bushies trying to use Reagan's death to mask over the failures and lies of Bush-Cheney is dishonest. And if they try to "win one for the Gipper" with GW they'll fail just like the Wellstone liberals failed. Most people want GW back about as much as they wanted Mondale.

Remember, Bush is no Reagan, not by a longshot. He may try to copy some of his moves, like calling enemies "evil", seeing the world in black and white and cutting taxes for the rich, but that dog don't hunt. Reagan was popular DESPITE his policies, not because of them. And he had something GW has never had, enough honesty to take responsibility and hold himself accountable.

Bush has also copied Reagan's corrupt belief in deregulation. In Reagan's day, it caused the S+L debacle (which we are still paying off) and in GW's day it's caused massive energy gouging (which we have been paying every since GW was nominated).

I respect Reagan, but he also did some bad things he didn't need to do, like Iran-Contra, the S+L deregulation and throwing mental patients out on the streets. While Reagan is still head and shoulders above GW, let's not sugar-coat him. Just remember him as successful leader who had guts and didn't try to conceal his real agenda. He was probably the right man at the right time, but times have also changed. What we need now is to return to responsible common sense solutions, honesty and bi-partisan unity.
