Bush is HOPING to influence gullible Catholics.
It may be a cliche but probably most Catholics are still working class people. Bush favors the very rich over working class people. Hence, he wants their vote for some other reason. Liek abortion. That is phony too. Bush used to be a playboy. There is even a rumor he had two women aborted.

More important, Bush doesn't even like the Pope I'm sure. Did you see his expression as he stepped up to meet him. No joy at all. On the contrary. very stiff and forced.

Meanwhile Kerry is a life-long practicing Catholic, but never a hypocrite. he will stand up to the church old-fashioned ultra conservatives and go with the mainstream realistic, what he believes in and no different. Kerry though would have a great time with the Pope. for sure.
