Wal-Mart Sticks by June Sales Forecast
Monday June 7, 8:14 am ET

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT - News), the world's largest retailer, on Monday said it still sees sales at stores open at least a year rising at the low end of its 4 to 6 percent growth range in June after the first week of the period.

The discounter also said the cycle of people waiting until their first-of-the-month paycheck to make purchases "still appears pronounced," a sign that many families continue to live paycheck-to-paycheck despite a recovering U.S. economy.

Analysts watch Wal-Mart's paycheck cycle closely for a reading on how tight household budgets are.

Automotive products, food, lawn and garden, sporting goods and toys were the strongest sellers in the week ended June 4.
