Kirk, not necessarily so....funds and institutions are
also looking for a return on their investment over time.
They are diversified and maintain a ratio percentage of each stock in the portfolio, they attempt to keep the portfolio balanced by not owning to much of any one stock.....and are preferential to stocks that pay dividends and that guarantee some return for holding the stock.
As for Coke, if I'm not mistaken they pay a dividend, are
not a cyclical company, have a constant revenue stream and
a massive customer base to insure the revenue stream.
A cash cow....
