Hit Start - Run

Type in MSCONFIG

Go to Startup tab.

Everytime I add a program, I go there and uncheck the stuff that pushes itself on me. Apparently, this uses up a lot of resources. Others will let you know more on this topic and it has been discussed here before. There are websites, you can find in Google, that will tell you what all those goofy item names are and if they are necessary to start up.
