NYSE, Nasdaq to Close Friday for Reagan
Monday June 7, 1:34 pm ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq said on Monday they will close on Friday in observance of the national day of mourning for former U.S. President Ronald Reagan.

"President Reagan was a great champion of free people and free markets," said NYSE Chief Executive John Thain in a statement. "He believed strongly in the ability of capitalism to foster opportunity and prosperity. It is appropriate that the nation's markets on Friday will honor President Reagan's contributions to freedom and democracy."

Reagan became the first sitting U.S. president to visit the NYSE on March 28, 1985. Reagan, the 40th U.S. president, died on Saturday. The Nasdaq closing was confirmed by a spokeswoman for the exchange.

the Publicans that gained SO MUCH wealth from this guy are of course giving him a hero's funeral....while the rest of us continue to PAY HIS DEBTS....monetarily (at least until Clinton GOT US OUT OF DEBT)whoooops Bush finished that! ...and as a society where we are still the home of the homeless and prisoners of the military industrial complex.
