<Misconduct, lying and covering-up seem to be standard operating procedure these days -- the reputation of America has been undermined by leadership that avoids any and all responsibility and accountability for misconduct, from the White House on down. >
In fairness to the current administration, they haven't damaged the USA's reputation. As long as I can remember, the USA has always been untrustworthy, given to spying and sneakiness and disinformation and over-weening criminally-inclined self-interest, arms for hostages and all that stuff, Cambodian bombing, throwing East Timor to the wolves, segregation and slavery, back into the mists of time.
If anything, things are better these days because there's so much information around and it's harder for the USA to hide their high crimes and misdemeanours. There's nothing like the bright light of public inspection, censure and punishment to keep people on the straight and narrow.
As King George II goes, he seems an okay-enough bloke. Not the greatest, but okay as government employees go. Like all government employees, he's gone a bit nuts with the cheque-book and enjoys the power too enthusiastically.
