I was out of town for a couple of days, so didn't get back to my video project until tonight.

The updated software seemed to solve the problems I was having with the Plextor digitizer. I haven't yet decided whether I'm completely pleased with the quality of the result; there seems to be some aliasing when I play the burned DVD on my PC. I'll view it on a TV tomorrow and see whether that looks better, because what I'm seeing could be an artifact of viewing it on my LCD computer screen rather than a problem with the DVD. I also need to evaluate the clarity and smoothness of the picture compared with the tape from which it came.

After going through all this to accomplish what is conceptually quite simple, I've concluded PCs aren't yet evolved to the point where they are truly useful as DVD recorders or video workstations -- at least not with consumer grade software and hardware.

JMHO.
