I use my cards in this fashion as well.

For what it's worth, Discover pays the largest cash back.

They were the first to do so, and others are now catching on as well.

For 3 months - now in progress - Discover is paying 10% cash back on groceries.

Others have similar - though not as generous - promotions.

Clearly - the companies are encouraging this behavior - but how many out there are amassing large balances purchasing life's staples?
