Scholars say lots of things; what is the evidence that that is the common interpretation? It would be much clearer if everyday Muslims would not dance in the streets when crimes like those of 911 were committed. As it stands it's up to the Muslims who claim otherwise to take back their religion, Sadly we don't see much evidence of that happening.
