Much of the left-right demonization begain in the late 1970's and flourished in the 1980's when liberal bashing became a national sport.

Put aside the ideological specifics and just reflect on the impact that saying "it's cool to hate those who have different politics" has on an electorate. Just like pissing on all French people for something the French government does or doesn't do. It's childish.

Today we have a narrowminded crusader in the White House who barely pretends to cater to anyone but his own followers. They are righteous and we are "agin 'em" so we are evil.

Sad and ugly.
