Why else would they give away such "valuable information" for free if not to churn?

I'm not sure about your choice of words - the word "churn," specifically - but you make a good point nonetheless.

It seems obvious, doesn't it? Who'd give away information of any worth for free, and to strangers, no less?

And yet, hordes of idiots and responsibility-averse pikers continue to cry out to regulators, to swear that they were 'taken advantage of,' or - best yet - to harbor laughable conspiracy theories about market makers, hedge funds, short sellers, a 'Plunge Protection Team,' cabals, 'elites,' and innumerable others. When the need to cast blame for losses arises, overwhelmingly...the whiners need only look in a mirror.
