I don't question your point and the author's about temperaments affecting our expressions of belief. I do think, though, that there are certain temperaments not disposed toward belief and that I have one of them. My friends tend to be non-believers, too. What we have in common are strong senses of independence and self-sufficiency. We're all also quite curious, tolerant, and introverted. It's hard to imagine anyone fitting that profile ever adopting religion.
