Other countries own more of America than you think, including Japan. While the spectacular "showcase" purchases failed, the natural resource and other real estate purchases are still there... Part of the bank issue in Japan is the attempts to hold these assets in the presence of severe real estate deflation IN JAPAN. Many of the US assets are still viable investments. Lost my reference link from a few years back...from memory. Ira
