Bill,

Depends on what Department your talking about. Macs do somethings, Wintels do something and UNIX boxes are in the more elite units.

Pound for pound my 8500/150 would have cost about the same on the Wintel platform after one adds the SCZZY card,
Video card, Sound card and because Macs do floating point better a 200mgz processor. Then add the cost for my time to put in same and torn out hair and the 8500 becomes much, much cheaper. Add in further maintainence, hooking up modems, printer, removables, drawing slates and you have the gist of the gistics report.

My friend is a C/Java programmer. Took him over a month to add a new board to his Wintel computer. Now he's trying to add a raid array, trying for another month. How much do you think that costs in lost time? That thing is always on the blink!

He liked NeXT, says he'll buy a Rhapsody box.
