Often wrong, never in doubt.

Absolutely amazing.

An expert on basketball tactics.

When will it end, "it" being the arrogance of the know-it-all who will never admit to an error.

The strategic foul is a time-honored method to gain an advantage. There is no brutality involved, no sharp elbows, no intent to harm. These kinds of intentional fouls involve a gentle hug.

If his team mates are in foul trouble, i.e., have four or five fouls at a late stage of the game and a tactical foul needs to be committed, a bench warmer will be put in play to gently hug the player who is to be fouled. Sometimes the foulee is targeted because he is a poor foul shot shooter or sometimes because of time considerations. If Shaq had the ball, there is no doubt that he would have been tactically fouled because he is a notoriously bad foul shot shooter.

The failure to gently foul Kobe so that he would only have the opportunity to score a maximum of two points instead of being able to make a three point shot, which he made and won the game for the Lakers, was the obvious coaching error others were discussing.

Tactical fouling is the use of the rules to a team's advantage. If you don't understand the concept, and live every day by it, you have no business being a lawyer.

You clearly do not understand this, though you will absolutely, positively and predictably allege/spin that you do. Anyone with a half-way decent knowledge of basketball tactics knows that you are utterly ignorant on this point.

The article you linked has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with the point at issue, not that complete ignorance of a subject has ever stopped you from opining. The article simply does not deal with tactical fouls.

Googling is not a substitute for real knowledge.

Coach.
