I think the quality of governance at ALL levels would improve greatly if that attention was diverted from the herrings onto the meat of the issues. The public seems to either have a greater appetite for herring or that's about all they can digest.....

Part of the problem lies in the fact that the Media has been serving up herrings and calling it beef for a long time now. Maybe the public has been fooled into thinking that these things really matter. The public certainly has indigestion...witness that polls indicated that 7 of 10 Americans believed that Saddam was involved in 9-11.

The Media is not totally at fault. There was a lot of pressure to toe the line on stories. They were "in-bedded" with the military forces. Any one that might have questioned what we were really doing in Iraq...would be rode out on the un-patriotic rail.

Supporting the troops and writing about why we might really be in Iraq are diametrically opposed to one another. This makes it difficult to serve up anything but left over fish...and then pass it off as the "special of the day"

Have a nice swim,

Orca
