One such trend is the rapidly increasing income inequality, with the ones at the bottom increasing much faster than the ones at the top.

This is one of the worst distortions of the left, KL. Of course you get more inequality as the overall GNP goes up. But the point is the bottom ends up much better also. This is an effort to build "class envy," in a country with no "classes."

The history of income increases since the Industrial Revolution shows that redistribution of income in an attempt to equalize this always fails.

This is just an attempt to score political points off the fact that life is not fair. A rising tide does life all boats. And even the poorest "boat" is better off.
