Even if self preservation is the "first Law" it's a huge leap of logic to move from that, to self sacrifice.

And yet you believe in one of the many savior/hero/godman cults (Christianity/Jesus) that had been patterned after and in wide circulation in the ancient world , which had already been imprinted upon many minds in many lands throughout empires. From Prometheus to Mithra , from Isis/Osirus to Hercules and Apollo's son who raised folks from the dead . Next you would have us believe that the genesis story in the Bible was the only genesis story floating around in the world ? Maybe you should read a few more books there .

Ofcourse to you the most plausible explanation would be to promote and elevate an evil entity, which himself was an offshoot of the "Divine" , you call --->Satan ...which is in itself quite a revelation of a childlike mind seeking bugabooos in a quite splendidly laid out universe and world. But Satan was ever a crafty one , being a "Son of God " himself though fallen as he was. And so Satan was the one who introduced all these exact duplicate savior/godmen before Jesus to confuse the faithful yet to be ? In otherwords , all the heroic sacrifices of all the Gods and Godmen imagined before Jesus , were the creation of this one and only Satan who new this would harm and confuse the believers yet to be ?

Yes , Satan was ever the crafty one ....the wonderful master hobgoblin of idle minds . So clever of him to invent all those ancient belief systems of the pagans , so many centuries earlier to thwart the birthright and mission of
your Jewish messiah who wandered to and from some 15miles back and forth in the north of the Galilean sea.

Satan was certainly one of those great "Christian" inventions ...and was so "original".
