You are an idiot and more frequently than not use your replies as an loosely articulated segue into whatever whine in which you have chosen to embark.
The United States of America is noted "historically" as emerging as a world power in WWI , although some say the later part of the 18th century when Hawaii was annexed as well as the Spanish American War executed the Caribbean "stabilizations".
I am not grading and as is no other intelligent person the power of an emerging nation by the casualties they endured or didn't endure.
The realization of power was reflected by the ability to industrially mobilize, transport a contemporary armed force and patrol the seas and facilitate trade with a forceful navy. The ability to extend one's self militarily and economically around the globe is what qualifies one as a world power.
None of what you wrote makes any sense in that discussion.
Looking at the casualties by nation from WWI, what made us a world power then? For example, the French had 6.2 million killed and wounded, we had 364,000. Turkey had 4x more casualties than we did. Even in WWII where the French were overrun early on, they had 820,000 civilian and military deaths, the US had 295,000. The French supported us in the Revolution, Gulf War I, Afghanistan, WWI, WWII, Korea, and Haiti... They did not support us in Vietnam, but we didn't support them, and they don't support us now in Iraq. But we didn't support them and Britain in the Suez War, and I don't think we supported them in Algeria. So why are they being demonized by the RW here? |
