I don't think the average person has the foggiest notion of what the Beatitudes actually teach. The sermon extends far beyond what is commonly thought. They speak of the kinds of attitudes and actions that attend a life that has been transformed by the Grace of God. I think most people look at them and see a formula to work their way into Heaven. That said he (Kurt) did make some valid criticisms.
