I don't think it helpful to deny in the process the positive effect of the old tool any more than to ignore its negative side effects. We needed that creative destruction to break through our inertia. What's the harm in acknowledging a glass half full even as we say that that tool won't give us the other half?

I like this formulation. We, apparently, only differ in just how full the glass is.
