But Clinton was a little more fiscally responsible. More leftist propaganda. It is easy to be more "fiscally responsible" when you gut the military, the single biggest expenditure in the budget. Carter left the Pentagon in dilapidated and in disarray for Reagan. Reagan/Bush rebuilt it. Clinton gutted it again. Bush is now rebuilding it again. Makes it easy for the Left to make these disingenuous arguments. But the reality is the liberals cut spending for the most important function of government -- protecting our nation. When Clinton took office, we had just had a military buildup in the Gulf consisting of 500,000 men. Now, it has been alleged by the Left that we can't sustain military operations in Afghanistan and the Gulf at the same time, a total of well under 200,000 men.
