re: This graph is of OUTLAYS. Yes, OUTLAYS were higher during the Vietnam War. Further, outlays during the Carter years reflected the HIGHEST INFLATION SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION. If you inflation-adjusted the Carter years the outlays would have been greatly diminished.

Just admit the truth, nobody, Rep or Dem, "gutted" the military. Another piece of far right urban legend false dogma that's simply not true.
