"One example that is interpreted by many as "bending the law" is the constitutionality of the patriot act. " Who passed the Patriot Act? Clue: It was not Ashcroft. Acts of the Congress are presumed to be Constitutional until the Supreme Court decides otherwise. Another is the new definition of terrorists such that they are denied any of the previously guaranteed constitutional rights afforded one who has been arrested in our country, such as the right to an attorney and the right to know what crime you are being charged with. The definition of enemy combatant and the unavailability of that person so designated by the Commander in Chief (our President) has not changed.....this was and has been the law of the land..... Try again....
