You are right. No point in splitting hairs wether it was humiliation or torture. Neverthless it was in direct contravention to Geneva convention.
Bear in mind this is more sacred to United States and Western allies than to others. If you don't like the dictates of Geneva Convention then abandon it and be prepared for mistreatment of US soldiers. I for one think abiding by Geneva Convention is going to be of more use to us in the long run.
