Rascal, it's normal for two people to see the same thing, but see two different things.

I watched President Bush too and was impressed. I quite like some light-heartedness and humour, even when things are serious. People who are smiling and laughing are people who are not under too much pressure and are coping okay. That's why boxers who have just been whacked try to smile and show how it wasn't anything, even if their heads are reeling. They want to show the opposition that they aren't making progress.

Bush is gung ho and feeling he's making real progress. Which he is.

But he was really ducking the Plame and torture issues. He's in trouble with those. I'd say he's in more trouble there than Bill Clinton was with having it off with Monica. I expect he'll get away with the torture business. I'm not so sure about the Plame disclosure. Maybe Cheney will take the fall for that - my guess is that it wasn't some third level underling who was responsible. Bush is too defensive for that to be the case.

I think the USA is in a win-win-win position. Bush or Kerry are both okay though Libertarians would be better still.

Now that they are revving up the UN, rather than trying to rule the world alone, it's turning into a win-win-win-win position. But they still have to make the UN into a 21st century entity instead of a post WWII dinosaur.
