The point that I made that is valid is that this administration loves it's secrecy and shies away from any kind of accountability to anyone, if it can get away with it.

You seized upon the phrase "bending the law" which I did not use but presented that I thought it was an interesting question whether it was true. I still think a case can be made that the Patriot act is unconstitutional in some of it's powers, and that Ashcroft travelling around the country defending it makes him look like he's more concerned with doing what he thinks is right than in defending the constitution. That could be seen as him "bending the law".
