It works this way in Canada. The federal level lowers taxes and consequently reduces the amount of money it gives to the provinces for health, welfare, university education etc. The provincial level then tells the local levels that they have no money to help them. The local level must pay for public transportation, garbage, police, etc. oh yes and that unimportant thing, K-12 schooling.
The rich travel first class on planes, go to first class restaurants, fancy resorts, etc. etc. I don't see them "getting screwed" at all. They are screwing everybody else by getting the federal level to tax less.
Once upon a time there were many labor union members and many Joe 6 Packs were educated by their unions as to politics. In that time I paid income taxes at a higher rate than now. The unions are decimated and Canada is less fair and less kind than in those days. Also I can see, less educated in every way. If the rich really get their way we'll be fighting alongside the intelligent Americans in Iraq. Then our soldiers will get screwed(wounded or killed) as yours are now. And abortions will be illegal, gun control will be abolished, etc. Paradoxically, Canada (except for oil and gas) is becoming less attractive for investment. All thanks to the greedy rich.
