Gov't to consider privatization of Irkutskenergo

RosBusinessConsulting. Friday, Jun. 11, 2004, 5:00 PM Moscow Time

Proposals on the privatization of Irkutskenergo will be submitted for the government's consideration in two months, Kirill Androsov, a representative of the Russian Economy Ministry, reported. According to him, the decision on the privatization will be made after the government makes other decisions covering three issues, namely consideration of the possibility of signing agreements with the Central Control Department and the Federal Network Company and determination of the terms of using the state-owned dams of Irkutskenergo. According to him, the government entitled the Russian Economy Ministry and the Russian Energy Ministry to consider the privatization-related issues at its meeting on June 2, 2004. As for possible dates for any decision, Androsov stressed that the issue will be considered at two of three meetings of the Energy Ministry and the Economy Ministry. The government owns a 40-percent stake in Irkutskenergo.
